Meet Elizabeth
Elizabeth Seiters
Founder
Elizabeth Seiters is originally from Tennessee and grew up on Signal Mountain in Chattanooga. Currently, she lives in the Bells Bend area (Ashland City) with her partner, 4 children, a dog, a gold fish, and a small flock of hens. In addition to teaching at OUTINGS, Elizabeth is a maker (painting/drawing, ceramics, fiber arts/sewing) and loves sauntering with the natural world (trail walks-backpacking, gardening, swimming holes)
OUTINGS was created out of the pandemic in 2020. Elizabeth wanted to take her teaching and Forest School training out in the field and provide an alternative outdoor experience for children ages 4-6 years old. The intention was to provide Earth connection and to collectively build on social emotional development; ignite creative development; and bridge families to local parks emphasizing land acknowledgment and stewardship.
OUTINGS’ first programming was at Bells Bend Park in 2021 and within that first year partnered with Turnip Green Creative Reuse. There were originally 2 different groups of mixed ages of about 6 children on Tuesdays/Thursdays and a teaching artist from TGCR would come once a month.
After a few years of programming at Bells Bend Park, Elizabeth’s family decided to make a life change and move after 20 years in East Nashville to 4 acres in the Bells Bend area to continue life further out of the city and continue the OUTINGS program on the 4 acres.
The OUTINGS program uprooted again after December 2025 and relocated in March of 2026 to Emerson Farm in the Bells Bend area.
