Rain or Shine

At OUTINGS we believe that children thrive when they experience the natural world in all its’ seasons. Our program meets outside in rain, wind [below 25 mph], and snow. This allows children to build resilience, confidence, adaptability, and a deep connection to the Earth. We encourage families to embrace the Scandanavian saying, “There’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing”, and to come prepared for the day’s conditions. While our learning takes place primarily outdoors, we also have access to a sheltered farmhouse with a wood-burning stove where children can warm up and cook things. Class days are only cancelled when weather presents a genuine safety risk, such as severe storms, dangerous temperatures, ice, and other extreme conditions. Otherwise, we welcome the opportunity to learn, play, and explore together under the skies and from the shelter of the barn.
